Dr. Ramesh C. Sharma
Dr Ramesh C Sharma holds a PhD in Education in the area of Educational Technology and is currently a Regional Director in Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), India and has been instrumental in strengthening distance education in the states of Shillong, Rajasthan, Haryana, Maharastra, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and Goa in addition to serving in New Delhi, HQs. He was also the Director (Distance Education), Institute of Distance and Continuing Education, at University of Guyana, Guyana (South America) under an assignment of the Commonwealth Secretariat, London, United Kingdom from 2009 to 2011.
He has been a teacher trainer and has taught Educational Technology, Educational Research and Statistics, Educational Measurement and Evaluation, Special Education, Psychodynamics of Mental Health Courses to BEd and MEd students. He has supervised research dissertations at Masters and Doctoral Level. He is on the panel of external examiners of different Universities in India, Pakistan, and New Zealand. He has conducted many Human Development training programmes for the in- and pre-service teachers. He had established a Centre of ICT. He is a member of many committees on implementation of technology in the Open University. His areas of specialization include Open Education Resources, staff development, on-line learning, student support services in open and distance learning, and teacher education.
He was a member of Advisory Group meeting on Human Resources Development for the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), is one of the main UN bodies devoted to a development-friendly integration of developing countries into the world economy. UNCTAD provides technical cooperation under TrainForTrade, a training and capacity-building programme developed in close cooperation with other divisions of UNCTAD.
He is the co-Editor of 'Asian Journal of Distance Education' ISSN 1347-9008, (www.ASIANJDE.org), Country Editor for British Journal of Educational Technology. He was Associate Editor for "International Journal of Distance Education Technologies” (IJDET), an Official Publication of the Information Resources Management Association: http://www.igi-global.com/journals/details.asp?ID=498&v=review_board. In addition to these, he is on the Editorial Advisory Board of “International Review of Research in Open and Distance Learning”, online journal published by Athabasca University, Canada, www.irrodl.org , and “Indian Journal of Open Learning” published by IGNOU. He was on the Editorial Advisory Board of “Distance Education” published by Carfax Publishing, (http://www.tandf.co.uk/journals/carfax/01587919.html ) an imprint of the international academic publishing house, the Taylor & Francis Group, UK for 2002-2003. He has co-authored a book on DISTANCE EDUCATION RESEARCH, co-edited a book entitled "Interactive Multimedia in Education and Training" and “Cases on Global E-Learning Pactices: Successes and Pitfalls” (Co-Editor Dr Sanjaya Mishra, both from IGI-Global, USA). He is also an Advisory Board Member and author for the "Encyclopedia of Distance Learning" (four-volume set) released by Idea Group Publishing. Mr. Gurumurthy Kasinathan
Gurumurthy Kasinathan (Guru) is Founder and Director of IT for Change, a NGO based in Bangalore India. He works on program, research and advocacy aspects in the domains of Education, Public Software and Internet Governance at IT for Change. He has led research to study ICT programs in schools, in Kerala and Karnataka states and the work of the Regional Resource Centre component of the University School Resource Network (USRN) of Delhi University. He leads ITfC programs in schools, using ICTs to pilot new models of teacher education, including Teachers Communities of Practice (CoP) and Open Educational Resources (OER)'. These programmes are designed and implemented at school, block as well as state levels in Karnataka. He has worked on the role of proactive disclosure on the Internet in the context of the Right to Information in India. He leads programs on the adoption and promotion of public software (www.Public-Software.in) in the Indian public sector. He is a member of committees in the area of teacher education at national and state (Karnataka) levels, and also a member of networks of educationists and of FOSS communities in India.
Gurumurthy is visiting faculty at the Tata Institute for Social Sciences, Hyderabad (www.TISS.Edu), where he teaches “Education Leadership and Management” (ELM) in their post graduate program in Elementary Education. He is founder and secretary of the "Centre for Leadership and Management in Public Services" (www.C-LAMPS.in), a NGO formed to work on issues of individual and institutional capacity building in government and non governmental organizations. He is also on the governing board of Hengasaru Hakkina Sangha (www.hengasarahakkinasangha.org), a NGO working on legal rights for women.
He was earlier a consultant at the "Azim Premji Foundation" (www.AzimPremjiFoundation.org), a NGO working in elementary education in India and a member of the "Policy Planning Unit" (www.KarnatakaEducation.org.in), a collaboration of the Azim Premji Foundation, with the education department of Goverment of Karnataka where he worked on areas of education policy, technology and leadership.
Gurumurthy was earlier with the Management Consulting and IT business sectors for over 15 years. He worked with i-flex solutions (now Oracle Financial Services) a company selling banking products and services, where he was involved with their marketing, delivery, implementation, customer support and customer relationship management, software processes maturity activities. Prior that he was at A.F.Ferguson & Co. management consultancy services working on consulting assignments relating to the design and implementation of systems in a variety of industries and areas.
Ms. Sriranjani Ranganathan
Sriranjani completed her Masters in Management Studies from Birla Institute of Technology and Science and MBA from Drexel University, Philadelphia. She initially worked with the banking industry but decided to make a career shift to teaching. She has taught at the Raritan Valley Montessori School in New Jersey and then at Valley school in Bengaluru. She has also completed a training programme from the Montessori Teacher Training Institute of NJ and currently holds an AMS Montessori credential.
M.U.Paily, Ph.D is a Teacher Educator employed with National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), New Delhi and is currently posted at Regional Institute of Education; Mysore as Professor of Education. Prior to this he was at RIE, Bhopal as Head Department of Extension Education. He has held various administrative/academic Positions in the Committees of the Institute, University, State and national level organizations like NCERT, NCTE, and IGNOU. Currently he is a member of the Board of Studies in Education of Goa University, Bharathidasan University, and Kannur University and UGC visiting fellow of Bharathidasan University and Pondicherry University. Dr.Paily believes in sharing his knowledge and expertise in Pedagogy, ICT in Education and Organizational Behavior and conducted about 250 training and development programmes at Academic Staff Colleges, Navodaya Leadership Institutes, Rotary clubs, Goa Management Association, Regional Institutes of Education, K.V.ZIET, IGNOU and NCERT. Attended various national and international seminars and conferences and was guest speaker for many.
An expert in educational technology with special interest in ICT for Constructivist Pedagogy, Dr.Paily has been deeply involved in promoting ICT integration in education through pre-service and in-service teacher education programmes not only at Regional Institute of Education but at many other institutions with which he has been associated. He is a national winner of the Intel awards for the best integration of technology in teacher education for the project on ICT integration in Teacher Education through Action research, E-learning, and E-portfolio. He has also received UNESCO recognition for his effort in ICT integration (Training Teacher Trainees in Providing E-learning to School Students). He is a member of the core group of experts in implementing the e-learning portal by IGNOU as part of Distance Education Programme (DEP) of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) .Expert committee member of the IGNOU’s Post Graduate Diploma in E-Learning, and a member of the consultancy group to National Institute of Open School (NIOS) for implementing MHRD/UNFPA supported Adolescence Education Programme (AEP) by developing e-lessons for Life Skill Education.
As the Head, Department of Extension Education, he was responsible for planning, coordinating and supporting the implementation of the Professional Development Training Programmes of the Institute for the teachers and other educational functionaries of 5 western states of India. He is a member of the team for SSA achievement survey under Technical Cooperation Fund and also the Government of India nominee for the selection of best teachers for the National Award and was in the committee for the states of Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, UT of Daman & Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
He has expertise in e-learning (LMS-Moodle), E-portfolio (Mahara), Website Development (CMS- Joomla, Drupal), wiki (mediawiki), e-content creation (eXe, Xerte) and a host of other open source software applications. He is comfortable in the use of almost all Web 2.0 technologies for creating constructivist learning environment and has been using LMS MOODLE since 2005. He is currently supporting the implementation National ICT Curriculum, RMSA baseline studies, and e-content/e-learning programmes of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan.
